KOM:teppe

What does life on earth nowadays mean in terms of place, space & interaction?
What kind of stories can be told, imagined and invented?
– We, the Returners from the planet Isona, are curious to find out!

KOM:teppe invites, tells stories, moves around, animates others and temporarily appropriates public spaces and interacts with the environment. The mobile intervention KOM:teppe was a contribution to the Oslo Architecture Triennale 2019 (topic degrowth) as part of the ‚Home Planet‘* project. It consists of a huge cozy carpet (size 2.5 x 5 metres) which is mounted on an orange, mobile platform with wheels. The carpet can be rolled out in different places to create an instant new meeting point and playfully questions the previous use of the spot. In addition, inviting and communicative tea-sessions take place. During these tea-rounds stories and observations are shared on the carpet between the people sitting on it. The view of the familiar environment is changed and spontaneous acquaintances are made possible.

*Home Planet is a participatory event which combines theatre, live action role play (LARP) and interactive architecture to address urgent questions on human life on earth. The storyline is mostly based on the novel »The Dispossessed – an ambiguous utopia« by Ursula K. Le Guin.
