Bloody soll. Scenes of NSU crimes. Erinnerungsraum
In combination with the photo exhibition ‘Bloody soil. Scenes of NSU crimes’ by Regina Schmeken, which deals with the crimes of the National Socialist Underground (NSU), the Altonaer Museum has created an additional ‘memorial space’. Süleyman Taşköprü was murdered by members of the NSU on 27 June 2001 in his grocery store on Schützenstraße in Altona. We designed and created this ‘memorial space’ in collaboration with the museum’s team of curators and Süleyman Taşköprü’s family.
The memorial space is divided into two visually differentiated sections. The first, in warm, calm grey tones, focuses on the biographies of the NSU victims. Here, relatives, survivors and people who are engaged in the fight against right-wing extremist terrorism have their say. The second, in bright yellow tones, focuses on a participatory installation. This invites visitors to reflect on memory: Who remembers, who is remembered – and who is overlooked?
